Therapy
So, Therapy?
As cliche as it may sound, I always tell my clients that finding the right therapist is similar to dating: it sometimes takes trial and error before you find the right person. While I am trained in various therapeutic styles including EMDR, Animal Assisted Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and soon Brain Spotting, more than anything I believe that the best outcomes come from the ability for the therapist to create a space where a person can show up as their full, authentic self without any fear of judgment.
Therapy Services: Who
-
Children
While we would love to retain the pure innocence of childhood, the truth is that growing up can be difficult, and those challenges can start at an early age. The foundation of therapy with children is the idea that a trusting, caring relationship helps to mitigate the effects of adverse life experiences. Age of onset for anxiety and depression is continually decreasing, meaning there is no longer a “too young for therapy” standard. Depending on the age, we will work to identify emotions, understand emotional triggers, and learn to practice and implement healthy coping skills. Plus, we will hopefully have some fun doing it!

Teens and Young Adults
The transition from childhood to adulthood is its own distinct life period that comes with so many celebrations and challenges. I have spent the past 13 years working with teens and young adults as they navigate the “in-between.” I specialize in working with individuals who experience emotional distress such as anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, substance abuse, self harm, suicidal ideation, school disruption, family conflict, or PTSD. I pride myself in creating a space where young people can be fully honest about their life and I feel so honored to partner with them as they learn about what they want to do, where they want to go, and who they want to be.
-
Adults
There are times in life when often without realizing, we start to equate the term “adulting” with things such as work stress, family and parenting dynamics, challenges with substances, lack of community, managing anxiety, depression, and isolation, and overall a feeling of discontentment or confusion. And yet, being an adult has just as much possibility of being associated with joy, fulfillment, and purpose. Together, we can start to examine the relationship between our experiences, internal dialog, and relationships in order to gain a better understanding of your story and develop a sense of relief from current stressors, finding hope for a more fulfilled future.

Walk and Talk Therapy
Many developing countries, who have limited access to mental health professionals, have stated to create different initiatives where individuals meet with a trained layperson for a walk in the park to provide basic support in regards to mental wellness. What a beautifully simple, yet wonderfully profound idea. Support, in person, incorporating movement, nature, connection, a shared activity, and professional clinical support.
A “Walk and Talk” is exactly that. Think about going for a walk, with a fun loving labradoodle and a trained therapist. This option is perfect for parents or care givers who need to schedule services while also pushing their young ones in a stroller because childcare is hard to come by and expensive. For children, especially littles, who may feel more comfortable building a relationship while throwing Thumper a tennis ball rather than through an online platform of a sterile office. For teens, who are not yet keen on therapy, but would be open to “going for a walk” with someone who could offer support. Walk and talk therapy offers the power of connection, movement, fresh air, and therapeutic support.
